For the bride, the garter is one of the most popular traditions. Many different cultures practice a similar concept, with varying takes on the removal of the garter by the groom. There are a variety of styles for wedding garters. Many are lace, often the bride will choose blue to follow the “something blue” portion of the famous wedding rhyme. This being another popular wedding tradition, where there are specific guidelines for several items a bride should wear on her wedding day, to insure a long and happy marriage.

As for the cake, the tradition of cutting the cake together as a couple reaches back centuries, and spreads across the world. The first piece is shared between the newlyweds, and then each guest receives a piece. Many couples looking for a modern alternative to the cake, or looking for a budget friendly option, will choose cupcakes or other dessert options.
