If you’re planning your honeymoon on a budget, here are a couple tips to help you save on your trip.

- Enlist the help of a travel agent. This is common advice, especially for couples, especially on their honeymoons. Travel agents cater to many newlyweds every year, which means they are familiar with all the hot spots and deals. They can save you money, especially if you choose an all inclusive package through them.

- Decide what’s most important to you. If you are looking to get away from all of the family and friends you’ve been planning your big day with, you should spend the money on a budget vacation in a distant location (preferably out of season). If you want more luxuries, check out a nearby spa and book yourself a long, relaxing weekend with plenty of treatments.

- If you are able to book in advance, you can save considerably. Think ahead and try to book your honeymoon a year in advance if possible. You can save up to half of your expenses. At the same time, working with a travel agent for last minute package deals can also give you big savings.

- Consider different types of holidays, such as a cruise, or a camping trip as opposed to a resort.
