Choosing your Bridesmaids Gifts

Weddings can often be an expensive affair and there are numerous added extras to be considered when agreeing a budget. On the day of the wedding the bride and groom may present tokens of appreciation to the bridal party. Traditionally the bride will present flowers to the couple’s mothers, and perhaps grandmothers if in attendance at the wedding, tankards or cigars to the male attendants and a small token of appreciation to the bridesmaids.  Bridesmaids gifts can vary from a doll or toy for a young bridesmaid to a small piece of jewellery for older bridesmaids, just a token of thanks to mark the day.

There are numerous items according to budget that could be considered for bridesmaid gifts:

  • Jewellery – a lasting memento;
  • Picture frame – to capture the memory of the big day;
  • Make-up compact – perhaps engraved with the date;
  • Personalised teddy bear or doll;
  • Jewellery box with a little token inside – perhaps engraved;
  • Gift card – perhaps for a pamper treat at a later date; and
  • Flowers, chocolates or alcohol.

Bridesmaids will usually be close friends or family members so it is likely the bride will know them well and will be able to choose something personal, jewellery is the most popular bridesmaid gift and can be something that will be cherished after the wedding. A piece of jewellery could be engraved with a little message or even just the date of the wedding, the jewellery does not have to be expensive but the token will be very personal, discrete and discerning and show the esteem in which the bride has held her bridesmaids.  A piece of jewellery might be chosen to match the wedding theme or may be personal to the individual bridesmaid according to their age taste or style whatever is chosen it will be cherished by the bridesmaids.
